A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved four initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
